Can Diabetes Be Reversed?

The Medical Establishment with the help of “law-makers” would defintely say no, but there are a lot of reasons why that might not be the right answer, or at least the whole story. It could be that both tradition and “money” have blinded medical practitioners to the degree that they overlook some facts regarding diabetes – its control and possibly its reversal, With the DCCT study clearly making the point that good control can protect against complications, is it too much to ask, that there might be, somewhere out there, a possible cure, or at least something akin to that?

It seems that it’s taboo to say the word “cure” when describing anything that actually cures you. Some experts, like Matt Traverso, and in a more tentative way diabetic mentor Janet  Smith believe that you can make a difference, and they are not afraid to instill some hope in methods they have embraced. While the FDA and other parts of the medical establishment say that it’s very much okay to say that something “treats” or helps “offset” the symptoms of some health condition or disease, there is little evidence that most medical diseases can be cured. Instead, they are "treated" and profit is often made without adeuqate regard to your actual outcome, only the group statistics of the clinical trials.  Now you do not have to wonder  why hardly anyone ever talks about “curing diabetes.” Everyone seems to be content with finding ways to “control diabetes” or “live with diabetes”.

A few doctors, medical scientists and researchers armed with  “real solutions” are stepping up to the plate and they are NOT afraid to speak their minds, or talk truth to power. One fellow by the name of Matt Traverso is saying exactly what is on his mind!  Another admirable effort has been the work of diabetic mentor Janet Smith. In her book Beat Diabetes, she gives the readers a strategy that seems pretty sound, and is worth a good look. Endocrinologist Robert Sevier, who is a diabetic specialist, gave a testimonial to her, stating that he found her material "both fascinating and powerful, moving and practical...."
